Consider when writing for the Web
Clear simple web page help visitor to browse easily and crowded web page is punishment to visitor. They do not want them.
So try to reduce word count as much as possible. Long pages are not easy to read.
Try to bold text, Use bullet lists, and sub-headings to highlight key points as visitor probably read only them.
It may be clear when use one paragraph with one idea. Specially important massage better to keep in a separate paragraph.
Try to place the most important ideas at the top of your page and less important one bottom.
Most visitors spend less than 30 seconds viewing your page. This data is confirmed by a number of Web usability studies. These studies have found that visitors scan Web pages, picking out prominent words and phrases, rather than reading them word-for-word. Visitors often lack the patience to read each line of your page. Your Web page should be designed to draw the reader's eyes to the most important information.
These are more general factors but if you amine specific visitors like educational site for specific group you may need to give more facts and have to adjust patter of writing.
